First Class Lounge (Guarulhos Terminal 3) – São Paulo, Brazil

On a recent departure from the new Terminal 3 at Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), my girlfriend and I were able to visit the First Class Lounge which is currently reserved for Star Alliance and Emirates first class passengers. The lounge is located just across the corridor from the Star Alliance VIP lounge on the mezzanine level of the terminal after security and immigration. We were able to visit the First Class lounge because the showers at the Star Alliance lounge were still not ready (as of the end of June 2014). The First Lounge was just as spacious as the new Star Alliance lounge, but certainly not as crowded. There were only 5 other people in the lounge when we visited which made it a very quiet and relaxing environment.

After using 1 of the showers in the lounge, my girlfriend and I just relaxed until our flight took off. The food and beverage options at the First Class lounge were much better than at the Star Alliance lounge. There was an assortment of fruits, veggies, cold meats, sandwiches and desserts as well as a pretty extensive cocktail/drink bar. Definitely not the best amenities that I have seen at an airport lounge, but certainly much better then the older GRU lounges and standard Star Alliance lounges. One negative about the First Class lounge is the size of the shower rooms. Each individualized shower room is maybe 4 feet by 8 feet and I as I was putting my clothes back on, I slammed my forearm into one of the shiny new metal towel hooks which resulted in a decent sized cut.
